Making The Arrangements

As soon as it is convenient, arrangements can be made with us for the funeral. Each funeral is an individual arrangement with Turnbull Family Funerals, reflecting the individuality of the deceased and family wishes.

This is why it is important for us to employ only highly experienced staff, experts in all aspects of funeral arranging.

These are some of the arrangements that are normally made by Turnbull Family Funerals (Hooper and Burgess) on your behalf:

• Arrange private ambulance for transfer of deceased from place of death to our premises.

• Liaise with clergy or civil celebrant and coordinate church requirements for all denominations.

• Procure Death Certificate and Cremation Certificate from doctors.

• Complete registration with the Government Registrar.

• Arrange Burial Permits.

• Complete application forms for funeral benefits from Social Services, Veterans Affairs, MAIB or similar.

• Transport the family to the Coroner's office where necessary.

• Order floral tributes for the family or friends upon request.

• Select coffin or casket.

• Collect and return all floral tribute cards.

• Prepare and insert notices in the press (city, suburban, country and interstate) and radio where applicable.

• Arrange catering if required.

• Fulfill any additional wishes, including Lodge, R.S.L., etc.

• Provide transport to crematorium to choose position for interment of cremated remains.

• Provide the use of one of our chapels for the funeral service.

• Arrange payments of cemetery fees, freight, advertising charges and honorarium for clergy/celebrant.

• Provide hearse and cars for use at the time of the funeral.

• Make all arrangements for the transport of the deceased and conducting of a funeral in the country, interstate or overseas.

As you can see, the arrangement of a funeral is not a simple matter. To assist your relatives we recommend that you fill in the details at the back of this booklet and keep it with your private papers. If you wish, you may make your arrangements during your lifetime. Many people are taking this realistic view with the object of making sure that their last wishes are adhered to and that the matter can be discussed when undue pressures and influences are absent.
