Personalising The Funeral

Following are some of our suggestions to help you add meaning and a personal touch to the funeral service:

• Incorporate into the funeral service the deceased's favourite music.

• Provide the officiating clergy or civil celebrant with details about the life of the deceased so that fond memories can be shared.

• Arrange for the deceased's favourite flowers to be displayed, or for close family members to participate in the service by placing a rose on the coffin or in the grave.

• Involve family and friends in the eulogy, religious readings and singing.

• Arrange for clubs and associations to attend so that they can show their support and pay their last respects.

• If the deceased was an ex-serviceperson, we can arrange for the Australian or appropriate flag to be placed over the coffin, or for a guard of honour and R.S.L. service, if applicable, together with a bugler.

• A photographic montage can be shown can be shown during the service

• Photographs and memorabilia can be displayed in our gathering room.

• An audio tape recording of the service can be provided.

• A white dove symbolising the spirit of peace can be released at the conclusion of the funeral service.

• Place personal items which reflect the life of the deceased on or inside the coffin.

• Ask close friends to be pallbearers. Most would be honoured to carry out this duty.

• Arrange for the funeral to be videotaped. Relatives and friends not able to attend will be extremely appreciative.

• Send out thank you notes to show your appreciation to those who attended the funeral service and for their support.

• We can provide a Memorial Book for those attending the funeral service to sign.
